DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position performs trainee level work reviewing tax accounts and resolving issues related to delinquent taxes. You will work with taxpayers and their representatives while developing your technical knowledge, competence, and skill. As a Tax Examiner 1, you will perform the following duties: Training Participation: Attend formal, informal, and on-the-job training to learn about tax laws and procedures Account Analysis: Review tax systems to tie in all tax numbers associated with a business; analyze all types of major tax accounts for outstanding liabilities and delinquencies Case Processing: Create and review tax clearance cases in the Pennsylvania Tax Hub (PaTH) system and determine the appropriate action for each case Taxpayer Communication: Contact taxpayers or their representatives to resolve disputes on complex cases and explain the application of tax laws, rules, and regulations Inquiry Response: Answer telephone calls and correspondence about tax problems related to all clearances administered dissolution clearances and withdrawal clearances WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, after successful completion of required in‑office training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
